Does short term meditation work?

Naturally, I regularly encourage people I meet to practise meditation in my day to day life.
I try and share with others how meditation can build a kind of inner self “Shock absorber” that can help you achieve both calm and focus in stressful situations and just living in the world today. Most people say they don’t have time to meditate or just have not considered it.

I have found that even short mindful guided meditations can help individuals to make more rational decisions by considering all the facts and information available to them in the present moment. Even as short as fifteen minutes a day can help people reduce how much they focus on the past and the future, thus leading them to less negative emotion just by being present in the now and the task or decisions to make right now .

Over the years people have told me that meditation is just sitting down and doing nothing. Well..that is naturally not true. As a researcher from the Hopkins University, Madhav Goyal has said “Meditation is an active training of the mind to increase awareness, and different meditation programs approach this in different ways.” A quote and very well said.

Quite a lot of research in universities today shows that even the regular practise of short meditations can help increase your cognitive judgment and your emotional resilience. I am looking forward to meeting you all tonight as we start the next meditation course.
